Over the years we have built many award winning layouts and work is currently in progress on those listed below.
Click on the layout name for photographs and additional details.
Dewsbury Midland (00 gauge)
Our stunning layout, Dewsbury
Midland was shown for the first time at our Millenium Exhibition
and it is still well worth seeing. It is set in the West Riding
of Yorkshire, has won several awards at the exhibitions
it has attended and has appeared regularly in the model railway
press.
Although you may think that the layout is complete there is still
a lot of detail to be added, with signals being the current project. To give a flavour of the research
and commitment that has gone into the layout you
are advised to read the Model Railway Journal numbers 165 & 166. Layout size 25 feet by 11 feet.
Hazelwood Junction (N gauge)
The N Gauge Group was formed after a group of memebrs
decided that an N Gauge layout would fill a slot missing from
the MMRS and a simple, smallish layout would be built which would
allow members to run models "straight from the box".
Trackwork is Peco finescale and the
layout is based around Hazel Grove. There are now regular running sessions on the layout which is 12
feet long by 2 feet 8 inches wide. Buildings, signals and scenic work are due to be developed next.
Canaan Valley (0n30, 16.5mm gauge)
Having suffered a both a name change and a change of size, the layout will actually be 18' by 2' on four baseboards, with scenery and buildings which will allow it to run with either US or British stock. Construction is under way and you are welcome to join in and learn from the experts in this type of modelling.
Mersey Division (0 gauge)
With a continuous run the Mersey
Division regularly plays host to many members' models which are given the chance to stretch their legs and show what they can do. Its 3 foot wide baseboards run around the outside of the 41 foot 6 inch by 24 foot upper floor of Dean
Hall and it has appeared at our Annual Exhibition.
The main through station, Cornbrook, is now being supplemented by the development of a terminus
station which has Templot designed trackwork.
Peak Forest (00 gauge)
This 4mm scale 00 gauge modern image (present day) layout is aimed at members who want to improve but are not sure how to develop their stock and scenery from the excellent quality items now being offered by the major manufacturers. Unless you are already an expert, this may be the layout for you. The layout is 18 feet long and 3 feet deep.
Slattocks Junction (4mm scale, 18.83mm
gauge)
This layout is a replacement for the MMRS's popular Bradwell
but rather than it being an end to end this has a continuous
run with a through station (just off scene) and yard. The layout
is fictional but based on the Calder Valley route in the Middleton
to Castleton area.
Trackwork has is being rebuilt and electrics, using DCC for loco
control, are all but completed. A start has been made on the extensive
scenery that will make this layout a little bit different from
most P4 layouts. Including the scenic extension Slattocks measures 18 feet by 13 feet.
